The popular Pakistani actor Fawad Khan has left India, and the chances of him returning any time soon for a film project are very slim. A concert by singer Shafqat Amanat Ali in Bengaluru has been cancelled, and a report states that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been dropped from the upcoming movie Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laddoo Deewana. Meanwhile, the September 30 movie MS Dhoni – The Untold Story will not be released in Pakistan.

As law enforcement agencies, event organisers, and film producers bow down to ultranationalist demands that Pakistani artists should not be employed in India, a video by the entertainment website Spotboye tries to make sense of the issue. It starts provocatively: the anchor tells Fawad Khan that “I am an Indian and I, no, we, want you out, gone and banned.” After all, Khan is a Pakistani: “We cannot like you, and we should not like you.” Then comes the welcome admission: “If I can manage to stop you from entertaining me and working in my films, my country will be safe and peaceful… I mean, this is the solution, right?”
