The eighth entry in the Fast and the Furious franchise competes with the latest Vidya Balan starrer.
Begum Jaan Srijit Mukherji’s period drama is a remake of his 2015 Bengali movie Rajkahini. Begum Jaan is set in 1947 and mostly plays out inside a brothel that sits on the border between India and the newly formed Pakistan. The brothel is run by the titular heroine (Vidya Balan) and packed with women played by Pallavi Sharda, Gauhar Khan, Mishti, Flora Saini and Ridheema Tiwary. The cast includes Chunky Pandey as the madam’s nemesis, Naseeruddin Shah as her royal patron, Ashish Vidyarthi and Rajit Kapur as government officials, and Vivek Mushran as a teacher.
The Fate of the Furious The title says it all – the fate of this franchise is to keep vrooming ahead. Recurring cast members, including Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Chris Bridges and Tyrese Gibson, return for that one last heist. Charlize Theron plays the mysterious Cipher, while Helen Mirren appears as Statham’s mother.
Aftermath In 2002, Russian architect Vitaly Kaloyev stabbed to death the air traffic controller whom he held responsible for his family’s death in an air crash. He was released after serving an eight-year jail term and welcomed as a hero in his town. Elliot Lester’s movie stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the character based on Vitaly.
