Actor and director Nandita Das’s film on the life and works of celebrated Urdu writer Saadat Hasan Manto is likely to hit the theatres in mid-2018, Mid-Day reported.

Das, who is now working on the film’s edits, spoke about it at the ongoing Mumbai International Film Festival (October 12-October 18). “Editing is my favourite part of filmmaking,” she was quoted as saying in the Mid-Day report. “That’s where you correct the mistakes that you have made. It has been an incredible journey. Hopefully, it will be in theatres mid-2018.”

The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Manto, best known for short stories as Toba Tek Singh and Thanda Ghosht on the horrors of Partition, and Rasika Duggal as his wife, Safiyah. “Nawaz and Rasika Duggal are wonderful,” Das said. “They are accomplished actors and also incredible human beings.”
