The trailer for Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming film Alita: Battle Angel brings alive the hit Japanese manga series of the same name through chilling anime-esque computer graphics.

From a distance she might look like a normally proportioned young woman. But the anime-eyed Alita (Rosa Salazar) is a female cyborg. Produced by James Cameron, Alita: Battle Angel is based on Yukito Kishiro’s Battle Angel Alita manga (1990).

Set in the post-apocalyptic future, the film traces the life of Alita, an abandoned, lost cyborg, who is repaired by cybernetics doctor (Christoph Waltz). Also starring Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Jackie Earle Haley, Ed Skrein, and Michelle Rodriguez, the film is scheduled to be released on July 20, 2018.
