Stephen Dorff has been cast in the third season of True Detective, the popular HBO crime drama.

Dorff will play Roland West, an investigator from the state of Arkansas who teams up with Mahershala Ali’s Wayne Hays, a police detective, to solve “a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods”, Deadline reported.

The new season will focus on the case of two missing children in 1980. Nic Pizzolatto, the series creator, will be the director, writer, and showrunner for the third season. A premiere date has not been announced.

Dorff’s film and television credits include the vampire movie Blade (1998), Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere, Tarsem Singh’s Immortals (2011) and the television drama Star.
