Amazon’s second original Indian series Breathe will be released on January 26 on Amazon Prime Video across more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, the streaming portal announced on Friday. Directed by Mayank Sharma, the psychological drama stars R Madhavan and Amit Sadh.
The official synopsis: “Breathe is a gritty psychological drama that follows the lives of ordinary men faced with extraordinary circumstances. Kabir Sawant (Amit Sadh), a brilliant but unconventional officer of the Mumbai Crime Branch, puts the pieces together of seemingly unconnected deaths that lead to an unlikely suspect – the affable Danny Mascarenhas (R. Madhavan). As Danny faces the difficult choice between morality and the slim possibility of saving his dying son’s life, Kabir will not stop till he cracks the case and delivers justice.”
The cast includes Hrishikesh Joshi, Sapna Pabbi, Neena Kulkarni, Shriswara and Atharva Vishwakarma. Created by Abundantia Entertainment, Breathe will be launched as a trilingual series consisting of eight episodes.
The cricket-themed Inside Edge was the first Indian series to be premiered on the streaming service. In the pipeline are The Ministry, a political satire produced by All India Bakchod, and The Family Man, by filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. Rival service Netflix will be rolling out Sacred Games, produced by Phantom Films, and an adaptation of the spy thriller The Bard of Blood, produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.
