Priyanka Chopra’s company Purple Pebble Pictures is producing a third Marathi film titled Firebrand after bankrolling the National Award-winning Ventilator in 2016 and Kay Re Rascala in 2017, according to a Mid-Day report.
National Film Award winner Arunaraje Patil, who has previously directed Shaque (1976), Gehrayee (1980) and Rihaee (1988), will be directing the movie, which will revolve around contemporary relationships and will star Usha Jadhav, Rajeshwari Sachdev, Girish Kulkarni and Sachin Khedekar.
“I’m glad that Priyanka and Madhu Chopra are focussing on regional cinema,” Patil told Mid-Day. Purple Pebble Pictures was founded by Chopra and her mother, Madhu Chopra.
Firebrand is only the latest project to be produced by Chopra in a regional language. She has steadily moved away from Hindi films and is presently featuring only in Hollywood productions. Meanwhile, her production credits continue to increase. She has produced films in Bhojpuri (Bam Bam Bol Raha Hai Kashi, 2016), Punjabi (Sarvann, 2017) and Sikkimese (Pahuna, 2017).
