Aneek Chaudhary’s silent film White, a triptych of stories revolving around rape and survival, will be offered to buyers at the Cannes Film Market, the sidebar event at the Cannes Film Festival, Variety reported.
The three stories in White are of a factory girl who is abused on the job, an unwanted child who returns home after being raised in an orphanage, and a husband who accepts a child born of his wife’s rape by another man. Actors Kaushik Roy and Arjaa Banerjee are part of the film.
Chaudhary told Variety that the film is silent since his subject is universal: “I wanted the pain of the characters to be empathised by a person sitting in an Indian slum, as well as by a person staying in Europe.”
