Sitting on a signpost three kilometres from Tirunelveli, a computer graphic version of deputy commissioner of police Aarusaamy (Vikram) has his back firmly turned away from Delhi, which is 2,726 kilometres away. Two dogs sit on either side of the sickle-holding Aarusaamy, also facing the Tirunelveli side. This is how the motion poster of Saamy Square, the sequel to Hari’s 2003 action drama Saamy, introduces the muscle-flexing lead character.

Vikram will reportedly be seen in a double role in the film, which also stars Keerthy Suresh and Bobby Simha. The Gayatri mantra plays in the background as Aarusamy, his real self revealed, gets up and fires shots in the air. We could not confirm the fate of the sickle.

The film’s release date has not yet been announced. The official trailer will be released on May 16. The poster release comes after several reports about the project being shelved.
