The trailer for Parasuram’s upcoming Telugu romantic comedy Geetha Govindam opens with the song Enneno Janmala Bandham from the 1975 musical Pooja. In the foreground, Govind (Vijay Deverakonda) and his wife (Rashmika Mandanna) are re-enacting the roles played by actors G Ramakrishna and Vanisri in the original and proclaiming their love for each other.
However, the romance is short-lived, for viewers soon realise that both the soundtrack and Govind’s marriage exist only in his imagination. In reality, 25-year-old Govind is single and quite desperate to find a girlfriend. The woman of his dreams, though, is less than welcoming of his advances. “If I see you running behind any woman, I’ll throw acid on you,” she tells him.
Bankrolled by Ga2 Pictures, the film has music by Gopi Sundar and will be released on August 15.
