Vincent Van Gogh's work is legendary. Even if we don't know their names, most of us would recognise The Starry Night or Sunflowers. But his work is also inaccessible, shuttered away in great, far-off museums in the West. What if you got the chance to see them without leaving the comfort of your home?

A new virtual reality experience, The Night Cafe places, you in the shoes—or rather the eyes—of this visual master. You’ll sit in the Cafe de la Gare, circa 1888, designed based on his work Le Cafe de Nuit. This amazing Virtual Reality tribute to painter Vincent van Gogh was created by Mac Cauley as part of Challenge Post's VR Jam 2015. Making art come alive, Cauley has recreated the painting in 3D and added a few elements which will give you the feeling of actually standing in the room, watching Van Gogh smoke his pipe.

Virtual Reality technology has been popular among video game users and used widely to experience physical presence inside games. Innovative developers are now attempting to do all sorts of other things with the technology though, as this video shows.
