Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was hailed for his kindness and consideration during his French Open match.
It has been a difficult week for world tennis with allegations of match-fixing running rampant. But Jo-Wilfried Tsonga though brought some smiles back to tennis fans' faces with a heartwarming gesture of kindness at the Australian Open on Wednesday during his second-round clash against Omar Jasika.
During the third set, the ninth-seeded Frenchman noticed that one of the ballgirls, who had been hit by a ball earlier, seemed unwell. Like a thorough gentleman, he walked over to the girl and put his arm on her back, trying to comfort her. The visibly distressed, teary-eyed girl was gently escorted off the court by Tsonga as Melbourne Park showed its appreciation at this kind gesture.
Tsonga made light of the incident later, saying it was just "normal" to help her out and that he hoped she was doing better. He went on to win 7-5, 6-1, 6-4 and captured quite a few hearts with his actions.
