Andrej Ciesielski's holiday photos are criminally good looking. Literally. The German tourist illegally clambered up the Great Pyramid of Giza – a crime that could attract three years imprisonment in Egypt – to capture images from atop one of the ancient wonders of the world. And the results are absolutely stunning.

The 18-year-old, whose blog is filled with pictures from his trip to Egypt, told the Daily Mail that he managed to scamper up the 4,500-year-old monument in a matter of 8 minutes in broad daylight. Climbing pyramids is illegal in Egypt, a measure from the local government to prevent excessive wear and tear on monuments that are, after all, millenia old.

"Walking around in the complex I was waiting for the right moment to start climbing The Great Pyramid of Giza. When I started climbing a street seller was standing behind me but I didn’t care about him I turned around he laughed and I continued climbing," Ciesielski wrote on his blog. "At the half some people got attention on me and looked up to. That’s how the police spotted me. They shouted something in Arabic I think but I didn’t care and kept going while listening to music."

The German teenager videotaped the entire experience, allowing us to get a glimpse of what the world looks like from the top of an ancient wonder. And the images are indeed breathtaking.

The story also has a reasonably happy ending. Ciesielski told the Daily Mail that he was detained and questioned after he came down but eventually released without any further charges.
