Watch visuals of a leopard prowling inside a Bengaluru school before being tranquillised
The big cat may have strayed in from a nearby forest into the school on Sunday.
How did a leopard stray into a Bengaluru school? Where did it come from?
On Sunday, a male leopard was seen in a school in the Karnataka capital. The video above shows the creature prowling through the corridors of the school.
Had it not been Sunday, there would have been panic, mayhem, even tragedy.
The leopard was caught on the school's CCTV cameras around 4 am.
Attempting to catch him, forest officials shot the big cat with tranquilliser darts but before it could take effect, the leopard went on an attacking spree, injuring two people, The Hindu reported. The leopard finally collapsed after tense drama lasting nearly ten hours. Forest officials covered it with a net and took it out of the school.
The report added, quoting Santosh Kumar, Park Director, "It is being kept for treatment and observation at the rescue centre of the Bannerghatta Biological Park". The Forest Department will take a call on its relocation on Monday.
The eight-year-old full-grown male leopard may have strayed from the open forests nearby, forest officials said.
