Bicycle kicks are always outrageous but this one is from outer space. Javi Gomez scored an astonishing goal from a bicycle-kick from 30 yards out for Spanish Division B side UD Socuéllamos against CD Toledo on Sunday afternoon.

With 20 minutes left on the clock, Gomez timed his jump expertly, controlled a long ball with his chest and then, easy as you like, launched into an incredible overhead kick which left everyone in the entire stadium (including the hapless goalkeeper) flabbergasted, as they watched it sail into goal.

The best part was the context in which the goal came. Thanks to the goal, UD Socuellamos inched closer to achieving promotion, moving above their opposition into the play-off places with three games to go.

There are more reasons for Gomez to be so proud – his stunning goal elicited comparisons with a certain Zlatan Ibrahimovic who did something similar in 2002 for Sweden against England.
