Last we saw, Tinder was an app for hooking up. Or has it changed tack to go sanskari in India?

If this ad (video above) is to be believed, Indian mothers not only glow with approval of their daughters' plan to go on a (strictly daytime) Tinder date, they even indicate their approval with the term “swipe right”.

Far from positioning Tinder as an edgy way to get a date, this commercial tries to co-opt parental approval into the process. The message: there's no need to hide your Tinder footprint from your mother, for she's on your side.

It's possible, of course, that the app managers realise that the market for no-strings-attached hook-ups in India may be limited. And that Tinder has moved closer to the online matrimony space if it is to get users in large numbers.

In which case, mum and dad must right-swipe too, right?

Or did the commercial get some inspiration from this comedy sketch?
