At an India TV event, "Samvad" on Monday, Congress leader Rashid Alvi raised a question to Human Resource Development minister Smriti Irani about Google's throwing up Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name as the "world’s most stupid prime minister" (video above).

Alvi, of course, was only trying to embarrass Irani on Rajat Sharma's show, although referring to Google as "goggle" did not help his case. His statement was promptly interrupted by a member of the audience with the articulate rebuttal that “Rahul Gandhi is stupid”.

Adman Prasoon Joshi, who was in the audience, tried to explain how Google's algorithms work.

On her part, Irani countered Alvi by, first, suggesting his statement was to win favour within the Congress. “In the Congress, it's proven that those who throw stones and spit at Narendra Modi will gain favour. The poison against Narendra Modi has crossed the limit to a point where people forget that he is country’s Prime Minister.”

Then Irani questioned Alvi's opening statement.

“What does Rashid bhai mean by telling a woman that we have heard you are very close to Modi-ji? We have to live with this poison everyday and then you ask why Smriti Irani gets angry,” she said. And finally, she took the questioner to task for not setting a good example to younger people.
