It might have been just a friendly but this is a free-kick to rival the best. With France and Cameroon locked 2-2 in the last minute of normal time during Monday's friendly ahead of the Euro 2016, West Ham United's gifted 29-year old midfielder Dimitri Payet stepped up to land a stunning free-kick and give France the winning goal. As usual, it was from a very difficult angle and range.

Payet stepped up from long-range and angled in a shot with his right foot. The ball flew over the wall and slammed into the left corner of the goal, evading the Cameroon goalkeeper's desperate dive. That magnificent effort saved France the blushes and give them a 3-2 win although they hadn't looked the most convincing against a feisty Cameroon side.

Of course, Payet is no stranger to pulling off free-kicks. Over the last season at the Premier League with West Ham, he's garnered quite a reputation for scoring goals off free-kicks from impossible angles – to such an extent that he rued to ESPN after the game that the crowd expected him to score from every free-kick he took now. "That doesn't always happen," he shrugged. "Even though it worked again tonight."

Here's a compilation of some of his best free-kicks:
