After an incredibly hot and humid few months, the rains finally arrived, bringing relief to the parched city of Mumbai. The rainfall is reported to have ranged from 22mm to 24mm.
Inevitably, though, the monsoon has been late. Its Estimated Date of Arrival was June 14.
It's raining! ☺

Equally inevitably, the rain caused water-logging in a few areas of the city – notably Dadar, King's Circle and Wadala. Predictably, there were traffic snarls and trains were delayed. On the Western Line, train services were halted because an empty coach derailed.
A senior official in the BMC had earlier said, "We completed all the de-silting work on time, and cleared dirt from all major and minor drains, but minor ones are still choking due to floating material. Citizens dump garbage into the drains making the whole clean-up project pointless. So we have made it clear that we will not be responsible if these locations get flooded."
