Yes, even the fish are celebrating. After another hot summer, the monsoon has finally arrived in many parts of the country, and promises to cover the rest soon. Not only has the deficit been narrowed, but the usual snags – waterlogging, power cuts, and transport service interruptions – have also surfaced.

The rainfall was much worse in Uttarakhand where a cloudburst resulted in fatalities. In Assam, heavy rain has caused the waters of the Brahmaputra river to rise and close to 80,000 people have been affected by flooding.
And the local municipal corporations were mostly unprepared.
