Video: Police tie up Nigerian woman after brawl with shopkeeper in Bengaluru
The woman who was said to be drunk was taken to the hospital, where she was sedated.
A Nigerian woman was tied with a rope by the police in an attempt to restrain her after she got into an altercation with a shopkeeper at a market in Bengaluru on Monday. The woman, identified as Namplima Marian, was allegedly inebriated and was taken to a hospital, reports said, where an even bigger row followed.
This video posted by Viral Videos, taken outside the hospital, shows the woman being restrained with a red cloth, pinned down by a group of people, including the police, and tied. Marian was then sedated.
Marian and her friend had gone to the National Market in Bengaluru’s Gandhi Nagar area to look at some mobile phone stores on Monday afternoon. There, Marian got into an argument with a shop attendant during which she allegedly banged the glass counter and broke a glass pane. The police were then called. The police reportedly had to tie the two up and force them into an auto rickshaw. They were then taken to the KC General Hospital in Malleswaram.
“She was told not to do [bang on the glass] as the glass might break,” a witness who was near the mobile phone store at the time of the incident told The Hindu. “Hearing this, she banged the counter again. The glass broke, leaving her with wounds on her hands”
