It's a scene common in cartoons. Cute furry creature gets a cup, a bucket, or some other utensil stuck on its head. Cue hilarious shenanigans. When it happens in real life, though, it's not funny. And things become scary and confusing for the little critter. Thankfully, sometimes paramedics show up to save the day.

An empty styrofoam cup got stuck on a squirrel's head in Connecticut, US and despite numerous flips and jumps, the poor thing could not get the cup off its head. Enter members of the Enfield Emergency Services. Two attempts to dislodge the cup later, we have one happy and very free squirrel.

Animals find it increasingly difficult to survive in the growing urban environments that infringe on their habitat. Squirrels have found themselves stuck quite a few times.

When it's not plastic and garbage that's hampering animal movement, it's the grating covering drains. In the video below, police officers rescued some ducklings, much to the relief of their mother, who promptly took the rescued animals for a swim.
