'Gujarat Ma Aavshe Kejriwal': The campaign song the AAP wants people to dance to this Navratri
Will voters dance to the AAP tune, though?
It has been well documented that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is musically inclined. During the Aam Aadmi Party's 2014 campaign, the party had released the song Paanch saal Kejriwal, composed by musician Vishal Dadlani. This time, a new campaign song has been released in advance of the festive season.
Gujarat Ma Aavshe Kejriwal, (Kerjriwal is coming to Gujarat), a campaign song released for the upcoming 2017 assembly elections in the state, captures the flavour of Navratri. It shows a group of men wearing APP caps dancing in the traditional garba style. A predictable paean to the party leader, the lyrics give the gist of the ditty.
Kejriwal, Kejriwal, Gujarat main aavshe Kejriwal
Kare Kamaal aene Delhi ma
Karse Kamaal have Gujarat maKejriwal, Kejriwal, Gujarat main aavshe Kejriwal
Kare Kamaal aene Delhi ma
Karse Kamaal have Gujarat ma
The BJP's control over the state has been threatened by massive Dalit agitations against atrocities. In August, a fallout of this agitation was the resignation of former Chief Minister Anandiben Patel.
To capitalise on the perceived loss of control, Kejriwal will address a rally in the state on October 16. The song was released to drum up support for his rally and for the upcoming Gujarat elections in 2017.
