Watch: Arvind Kejriwal sings again (not really). This time, the title song from 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil'
The Delhi CM gets the viral video treatment.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's affinity for music and song has been well documented. When he's not singing old Hindi film songs to prove a point, he is reciting poems on talk shows as a form of protest against anti-corruption. Kejriwal has also used music to create party slogans.
The AAP famously got a chant composed by Vishal Dadlani for the Delhi elections. More recently, to drum up support for the upcoming Gujarat assembly elections, the party released a garba-inspired campaign song.
Now, Kejriwal is back. Unfortunately (or perhaps, fortunately) the Delhi CM is not doing any actually singing. Instead, Facebook user Super Londay has decided to create a mashup and has Kejriwal "sing" the title track of the recently-released controversial Karan Johar film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
And why does it work so well? The "lip-synch" is extremely skilful, so that the lyrics match the movements of Kejriwal's lips. What the video fails to do is use words from different speeches by Kejriwal to create the feeling that he is actually singing. Instead, the song from the movie plays over different videos of the leader of the AAP singing.
That's a problem that a YouTuber, did not have when it came to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Here's a prime ministerial version of the club hit Abhi toh party shuru hui hain from Hindi film Khoobsurat.
