Watch: These mini ‘Star Wars’ droids can be controlled by your phone
From a galaxy far, far away, these droids are the technological miracle that sci-fi fans have been waiting for.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is just around the corner, and what better way to commemorate the occasion than with a droid from a galaxy far, far away. After the BB-8 robot was launched in 2015 based on the droid from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the R2-D2 droid (above) is the latest model to join the themed app-enabled droids manufactured by robotic technology company Sphero.
With an iPhone/iPad companion app, the newest Star Wars droid will be able to cruise around with ease and rotate its head and reacts like the droid from the movie franchise. Using the app, users can drive their droids and even send them on missions. Through augmented reality (AR) and a Droid Trainer accessory, people can also experience what it feels like to be inside the iconic ships and locations from the Star Wars saga.
