Watch: Why is this video montage of Donald Trump’s Asia visit so peculiar and superficial?
Frankly, it looks more like a travel advertisement than a high-powered diplomatic tour.
It almost looks like wannabe GoPro montage. White House has compiled a rather strange video (above) of US President Donald Trump’s visit to Asia, which covered China, Vietnam, South Korea, Philippines and Japan with the objective of participating in a series of bilateral, multilateral, and cultural engagements.
It was probably a wise move not to have Trump actually speaking on the video, which keeps it on the right side of coherence. But the touristy feel, with an inexplicable combination of slo-mo, reverse motion and peppy music, only leads to an effort meant to make viewers feel...good? We’re not sure what the objective of this video is.
And yes, the hilarious ASEAN hand-holding chain made the cut.
