Watch: A tea advertisement from 2015 been brazenly plagiarised by another brand
Wagh Bakri Tea Group plans to send a legal notice to Jay Jawan Tea ‘for causing damage to the brand’, reports say.
This is not even plagiarism. It seems to be a blatant lifting of portions of one advertisement to create another one for a different brand. A recent advertisement for Jay Jawan Tea (above) appears to do just that, using clips from an older advertisement (below) for Wagh Bakri Tea and adding packshots of its own brand.
The advertisement for Wagh Bakri Tea was conceptualised by Scarecrow Communications in 2015 for a Republic Day campaign. Jay Jawan’s new advertisement has picked up an entire scene from Wagh Bakri’s ad without their consent or knowledge. The new ad uses not only the entire closing sequence of the original, but even retains the soundtrack.
Yogesh Shinde, representing the Wagh Bakri Tea Group, told Exchange4Media that the group will soon send a legal notice to Jay Jawan Tea. The Wagh Bakri advertisement was directed by Aleya Sen Sharma and produced by Chrome Pictures.
