One of the notable characteristics of the majestic swan is its monogamous nature. Swans usually mate for life with their partners.

The courtship period often involves the remarkable and graceful ritual known as the “swan dance”. The birds use their long, slender necks to form a heart shape, moving in unison one way and then the other.

The video above shows the heartwarming reunion of two swans after spending weeks apart. The female bird had fallen gravely ill with food poisoning caused by bacteria, and was in recovery for about three weeks. It was finally released back into the water by an animal rescue group in the Netherlands, sparking the most elegantly beautiful reunion.
