The ability to generate fake news has crossed a new frontier. Consider this supposed public service announcement by former US President Barack Obama.
In the video above, Barack Obama can be seen delivering a powerful message about the need to be careful about fake news. Except it isn’t him. It’s the technological wizardry of artificial intelligence, enhanced by the impersonation skills of comedian Jordan Peele.
In an attempt to warn readers about falling for fake news Buzzfeed and Peele came together to create this video. While this isn’t actually Obama speaking, the message is real: “We need to be more vigilant with what we trust from the internet. It’s a time we need to rely on trusted news sources.”
