Hip-hop artist and fashion designer Kanye West’s triumphant return to twitter has both stirred and riled up the internet in equal measure. Especially after he tweeted out to Donald Trump, expressing a possible new-found friendship with the US President.

West called Trump “his brother” in a tweet and posted this photo of himself wearing the “Make America Great Again” cap. Among those who aren’t impressed by this show of allegiance are two of America’s most popular talk-show hosts.

“Kanye is getting kind of political”, said Stephen Colbert (video above), joking that he might be “lobbying” for a job as Trump’s new communications director. Colbert is clearly no fan of this friendship – he said that West has lost his mind. “Donald Trump is your brother, it is true. I am your brother, too. And brother to brother I just want to say, put the phone down.”

Trevor Noah was pretty baffled too. Announcing the “breaking news from the sunken place” (video below), Noah said, “I don’t even know what happened here. I think Kanye West just realised he’s too rich to not be Republican?”
