Watch: These pelicans decided to crash a graduation ceremony and created havoc
Not one, but two pelicans disrupted the grand proceedings. But the show had to go on.
As proud parents and teachers watched their children and students graduate at a ceremony in Malibu, two large pelicans decided they wanted a front row view as well, and swooped down just as the ceremony was taking place, disrupting and terrorising everyone in the audience.
The students of Pepperdine University were not prepared for the two uninvited guests but the incident was the perfect example of what happens when you study near the Pacific Ocean, just like Grant Dillion said when he posted this video (above) on YouTube.
While one pelican flew away, the other perched itself right on an audience member’s head. Although nothing seemed to bother this bird, not even when security came in to intervene and even gently attempted to lift the bird. The pelican seemed determined to wait out till the show ended. However, despite this “minor” disruption, the ceremony resumed as is.
