Russia’s dream run at the FIFA World Cup came to an end when they lost to Croatia on penalties in the quarter-final. But there was another small victory that Croatia notched up.
The elated Croatian president, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic did a little victory dance to celebrate Croatia’s second goal. She was seated beside FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Russian Prime Minister Dimitry Medvedev in the VIP section of the Fisht Stadium. Medvedev, on the other hand, did not seem to be very happy and looked on disappointedly.
Croatia won the match in a 4-3 penalty shootout and advanced to the semi-finals for the first time since 1998. Grabar-Kitarovic was also seen shaking Medvedev’s hand after Russia equalised. In another video, she congratulated her team in the dressing room.
