Watch: Indo-Tibetan Border Police rescue pregnant woman and take her to hospital on a stretcher
A five-kilometre trek over treacherous terrain was the only option.
It was a nightmare for an expecting mother. Heavy rains and waterlogged roads prevented an ambulance from reaching a pregnant woman in Hadeli village in Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh who desperately needed medical support.
Left with no choice, she approached the Indo-Tibetan Border Police for help, and they responded immediately. Two commanders, from Hadeli and Ranapal, along with their men, carried her on a stretcher over difficult terrain, made treacherous by the rains, all the way to a primary health centre in Mardapal.
The ITBP posted the video on twitter, where it earned the admiration of many people.
