Watch: Eighteen injured as elephant goes on a rampage in Sri Lanka
Temple elephants are an important part of South Asian culture.
On September 7, an elephant ran into a crowd at a Buddhist pageant in Sri Lanka’s Kotte, injuring 18 people, Associated Press reported.
A video of the incident was reportedly telecast locally on Derana Television channel. The video shows many people being trampled by the decorated elephant. The number of injured was not known.
