It is difficult to understand how the India's top-order batsmen surrendered on a flat pitch against Bangladesh, its first ever knockout stage game in the Cricket World Cup, but it is clear that the second quarter final is set to be a thrilling game. That's not exactly what many fans expected out of an India versus Bangladesh game.

As the scoreboard crawled slowly for India after losing Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and even the in-form Shikhar Dhawan cheaply, Rohit Sharma managed to get a healthy century on the board. His runs helped cement the innings from one end but it was startling to watch his partners fail in their shots against the medium pace and spin of Bangladesh bowlers.

Sharma might have anchored the innings but when one is Rohit Sharma, jokes will flow no matter the performance. While few appreciated his talent and orthodox cricketing shots, many on Twitter found it easy to target Sharma for his patchy performances in the past and sent loaded tweets for scoring runs against a team that’s supposed to be a minnow.
