A tourist helicopter fell into a jagged glacier in south New Zealand on Saturday, killing its seven passengers, including the pilot. The helicopter crashed into the Fox Glacier, which is a popular site for visitors in the area, as it battled through heavy rain and overcast skies. A paramedic and alpine rescue team confirmed that there were no survivors, reported PTI.

Officials said they hope to recover the bodies on Sunday, as they did not want to risk going out in the turbulent weather. The pilot was a local, though the names and nationalities of the tourists have not been released yet. After receiving an emergency signal on Saturday, four rescue teams found a deep scorch mark in the glacier, which led them to the wreckage. The chopper, which belonged to a private adventure company, was on a scenic flight with the passengers, officials from the firm confirmed.
