Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has ordered an investigation into the leads provided by India on the Pathankot attack, according to a Pakistani daily. On Friday, Sharif held a second high-level meeting in as many days and reiterated his country's commitment to cooperate with India in the investigation. The meeting was attended by Pakistan's Army chief General Raheel Sharif, National Security Adviser Nasir Janjua and other senior officials, reported NDTV.

Pakistan is likely to ask for more information as the leads provided by India are limited to telephone numbers, an official said. “We would like to have solid information to build a case for action, otherwise courts intervene and the suspects will be bailed out,” he said. The official added that Pakistan will take strong action against anyone found guilty of involvement in the incident, reported PTI.

Sharif said Pakistan was ready to improve cooperation with India as part of efforts to fight terrorism. He also directed Janjua to keep communication channels open with his Indian counterpart, Ajit Doval, and ensure that the Pathankot attack does not derail the renewed dialogue between the two countries.
