Singapore Airlines’ Scoot to launch in India on May 24
The airline will take over Tigerair’s Chennai-Singapore route and will also fly out of Amritsar and Jaipur.
Singapore Airlines subsidiary Scoot will launch in India on May 24. The airline will take over Tigerair’s Chennai-Singapore route and will also fly out of Amritsar from May 24, while its flights to Jaipur will launch on October 2. Singapore Airlines’ no frills brand, which charges for food and luggage, has carried over six million travellers since it launched in 2012. Scoot is Singapore Airlines’ fourth brand to operate out of India – SilkAir, Tigerair also have flights within India.
Bharath Mahadevan, country head of Scoot, told Livemint that the airline will operate daily flights to Chennai, while it will have three flights a week to Amritsar. Starting July 1, the frequency of its Amritsar flights will be pushed to four times a week.
