JNU rape case: Police file chargesheet against accused Anmol Ratan
However, the call details and fingerprint report of both the woman and the former AISA leader are still pending with the respective agencies.
The Delhi Police has filed the chargesheet against Jawaharal Nehru University student Anmol Ratan, who allegedly raped a fellow student in one of the hostels on August 20, reported PTI. Metropolitan Magistrate Loveleen will hear the case on October 8.
According to the chargesheet, Ratan had contacted the first-year PhD scholar after she had posted a message on her Facebook profile in June asking whether anyone had a copy of the movie Sairat. He picked her up from her hostel on August 20 to give her the CD of the film and took her to Brahamputra Hostel where he offered her a spiked drink and then raped her. The chargesheet states the incident almost in the exact manner the woman had narrated it first to the police and then to Metropolitan Magistrate Snigdha Sarvaria.
However, the police are yet to get the call details and fingerprint report of both the woman and the accused. A supplementary chargesheet will be filed later, according to PTI. The former AISA leader is now in judicial custody and a sessions court is yet to hear his bail plea.
The woman had lodged the police complaint on August 21, a day after the incident. Ratan was on the run till August 24, when he surrendered before the Vasant Kunj (north) police. He was expelled from the students' association immediately after the complaint was filed against him. AISA had later issued a statement condemning the incident.
