Actress Priyanka Chopra apologised on Monday after she was criticised for wearing a T-shirt with insensitive text on a magazine cover, NDTV reported. The T-shirt had the words "migrant", "refugee" and "outsider" crossed out and the word "traveller" unmarked. Conde Nast Traveller, which featured Chopra, too came under sharp criticism for flaunting privilege as comparable to the plight of refugees.

While the magazine told BBC their intention was to highlight labelling of people, Chopra announced her apology to NDTV. She said, "I'm really apologetic about sentiments being hurt. I have always been against labels. I am very affected and feel really horrible, but the message has been misconstrued."

Chopra said the magazine intended to address "xenophobia with labels". The magazine defended its cover and said that it believed in a "world without borders". Social media users and others had objected to the "inappropriate cover", particularly in the context of the Syrian refugee crisis.
