A dancer was shot dead on Saturday night in Bathinda allegedly after she refused to dance with a few guests who were drunk. Kulwinder Kaur, who was in her twenties, was shot in the stomach while she was performing on stage. A video of the incident is doing rounds on the social media.

The victim was part of a dance troupe from Bathinda that was performing at a wedding in Maur Mandi town. The police identified the suspects with the help of the video clip and booked four people, who are missing. The Bathinda Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Swapan Sharma told ANI that the accused was under the influence of alcohol.

However, there is no clarity on who the accused is. According to The Indian Express, among the four suspects, one of them is local Shiromani Akali Dal leader Lucky Goyal. The weapons belonged to Lucky’s friend Sanjay Goyal who is also one of the accused in the case, the report added. Police has recovered a 0.32 bore revolver and 0.12 gun belonging to Sanjay Goyal. However, Kulwinder’s husband Harjinder Singh told NDTV that a friend of the groom, Billa, had shot her when she refused to dance with him.

Her husband had claimed that Kulwinder was three months pregnant, however, the doctor who conducted the autopsy has denied this, reported The Times of India.
