Staff Selection Commission (SSC) had released a notification on Friday for vacancies of 54,953 positions for GD Constable in the latest edition of Employment Newspaper. The Commission was supposed to start seeking applications from July 21st but now it has released a notification stating that it has postponed the date. Now the Commission will activate the link for candidates to apply from tomorrow, July 24th.

In a notification released today, the Commission said that the new website that the Commission launched last week experienced some technical issues and thus the process of seeking application could not be started on July 21st, as originally planned. Thus, the Commission decided to postpone the date and candidates can start applying for GD constable position from July 24th.

Candidates who want to apply for the positions need to visit the official SSC website, The last date to apply for the position has also been postponed and now the candidates can apply till August 24th until 5 pm.

The minimum qualification for the candidates who are interested in applying for the positions is 10th class pass. The minimum age limit of the candidates should be 19 years old and the maximum limit is 23 years old. There are relaxations in maximum age limit for candidates from reserved categories.

The Commission, through this recruitment drive, will fill up posts of Constables in BSF, ITBPF, CRPF, NIA, SSB and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles and CISF across the country. As previously reported, those selected through SSC GD Constable 2018 are in-charge of escort or guard. Their duties are generally assigned by the SHO and are supposed to play a role in absence of Assistant Sub-Inspector and Sub-inspectors.

Here is how to apply for SSC GD Constable 2018 recruitment:

  1. Log in to the official SSC website.    
  2. Click on the ‘Apply’ tab.    
  3. Click on the ‘Constable-GD’ section.    
  4. Follow the instruction and pay an application fee of Rs. 100 and submit the application.    

The Commission has released another notification stating that the new website will need all the candidates to register afresh. Old IDs and passwords, if any, will not work on the new website. The one-time registration will need a mobile number for OTP, email ID for verification, photo ID, information on 10th class examination, scanned copy of passport size photograph, among others. The candidates who are interested in applying for constable GD 2018 positions will have to go through physical examination, written examination and medical test as part of the recruitment process. The written exam will be 100-mark objective type questions testing candidates’ proficiency in general intelligence and reasoning, general knowledge and awareness, mathematics, and language.
