The CBSE had released the notification for CTET 2018 on June 12th. The registration was scheduled to start from June 22nd, but the process was halted due to ‘administrative reasons’.
The notification had created controversy in south Indian states, especially Tamil Nadu, as the CBSE had given options of only three languages - English, Hindi and Sanskrit - instead of the usual 20 languages. HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar intervened and instructed the CBSE to conduct the exam in all 20 languages. This led to CBSE postponing the registration process.
