Honor’s latest gaming device, the Honor Play, is set to be launched in India today, but with a minor tweak. The Honor Play, already available in China, which is marketed as a gaming smartphone, is being launched as a performance device in India. The phone will be exclusive to Amazon India and the Honor Play price details will be confirmed at an event scheduled to be held in New Delhi at 11:45 a.m. today.

The scheduled event will be streamed live on the YouTube, and fans can also follow Honor India’s official Facebook page and Twitter handles for live updates from the event. Honor India is touting this new offering as a “crazy fast, crazy smart” device capable of delivering superior speed and power.

The phone is expected to sport a 6.3-inch FulHD+ IPS LCD screen with a notch at the top, in line with the current design trend. The Honor Play will be powered by the Kirin 970 chipset and has a new technology called GPU Turbo, which the company claims gives better performance while reducing battery consumption. It is expected that there will be one variant of the device, 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage, expandable via a micro-SD card.

The Honor Play runs on Android 8.1 Oreo along with the EMUI 8.2 skin overlaying it. In the camera department, the phone has a dual rear camera boasting a 16-megapixel primary sensor equipped with AI capabilities and a 2-megapixel secondary snapper. On the front, like all its competitors in the segment, we see a powerful 16-megapixel camera. In terms of connectivity, the phone has a hybrid SIM slot and will be sold in two colour options; viz, black and blue.
