The Huawei Honor Play for India has been launched today, August 6th, by the company at an event in Delhi. The smartphone will be made available in two variants; viz, 4GB and 6GB RAM, both with 64GB storage.

The device will be an Amazon exclusive and will go on sale today at 4 p.m. The Honor Play price has been set at Rs. 19,999 for the 4GB model and Rs. 23,999 for the 6GB model, respectively.

It was expected to be only a performance-oriented device, but Honor Play packs the superior 4D gaming experience on board. And with the powerful 3,750mAh Li-Po battery backing up this machine, it will certainly satiate the demands of its gamer audience. Interested buyers will have to hurry, however, as the Amazon landing page says ‘limited stock’ for the cheaper 4GB variant priced at Rs.19,999.

The Honor Play gets Hi-touch, Smart Wi-Fi operation and Party Mode as add-on features. The in-built Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Auto-Image Stabilization (AIS) ensure a seamless video experience, Honor India claims.

Otherwise, a majority of the technical specifications remain as expected. The Honor Play is powered by the Kirin 970 chipset and has company’s latest GPU Turbo technology, which the company claims gives better performance while reducing battery consumption. Honor cheekily referred to it as ‘Power meets panache’ on its Twitter handle.s

The Honor Play boasts a 6.3-inch FulHD+ IPS LCD screen with a notch at the top, in line with the current design trend. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo covered by the EMUI 8.2 skin. The phone has a dual rear camera with a 16-megapixel primary sensor equipped with AI capabilities and a 2-megapixel secondary snapper.

On the front, like all its competitors in the segment, we see a powerful 16-megapixel camera. In terms of connectivity, the phone has a hybrid SIM slot and will be sold in two colour options – black and blue.
