Motorola launches P30 along with Z3 and E5 Plus in China
Lenovo-owned Motorola launched the Moto P30 AI phone with gradient design in China today. But the phone will go on sale next month.
Motorola brand announced three new smart phones for the Chinese market at the launch event today. The newest device, the highly anticipated Moto P30 equipped with ‘double sided AI’ for portrait photography, has been launched in China. The other two smartphones – Motorola Z3 that was launched recently in the US and E5 Plus that is available in India – have been made available with identical specifications. These two devices will go on sale tomorrow, that is August 16th from 10 am local time.
Motorola P30 being the newest kid on the block hogged all limelight at the event. The Lenovo-owned brand claims that the double-sided AI portrait background blur feature provides an artistic treatment for the photos. The dual rear 16-megapixel primary sensor and 5-megapixel secondary snapper with AI wisdom give the photo a more refined depth of field effect and bring a more layered pictures, Motorola claims.
It is in the design department that P30 shines the brightest. This 6.2-inch offering with a display notch at the top and a noticeable bottom bezel uses double-sided 2.5D full glass body and comes in a gradient design. Another Chinese brand Oppo’s soon-to-be-launched F9 is the only phone that offers gradient design. Motorola P30 comes in ceramic light and aurora gradient colour along with ice white and bright black colour options.
It’s not just the AI powered photography, but this smartphone from Motorola has something for the gaming-centric audience as well. Moto P30 gets the AI game mode for immersive experience clubbed with 6GB of RAM and 128GB large storage option. It also gets the Motorola’s patented fast charging feature that is turbocharging.
Motorola P30 specifications
Moto Z3 and E5 Plus were launched with no mechanical changes and share identical specifications. It is the new entrant Motorola P30 that is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 eight-core processor with a maximum frequency of 1.8GHz. The phone though comes in standard 6GB of RAM with 64GB and 128GB storage options further expandable up to 256GB using a MicroSD card. This is a dual SIM phone which gets the large 6.2 inches IPS display screen that supports 19:9 aspect ratio.
Additionally, there are host of special features such as Dolby sound, face quick unlock, P2i splash, game mode. Moto P30 gets regular 3000mAh lithium battery mated with fast charging technology. For the selfies, P30 offers a 12 mega-pixel front camera with AI blur and beauty features.
Pricing and availability
The star of the day, Moto P30, has been priced competitively starting at CNY 2,099 for the 64GB storage option. It is expected to go on sale next month on September 15. As mentioned earlier, the first sale for Motorola Z3 and Moto E5 Plus will begin tomorrow morning at 10 am local time China. The phones are being with couple of free goodies limited to this first sale only. Moto Z3 is being offered at CNY 3,999 whereas, Moto E5 Plus has been priced starting at CNY 1,299 for the base 3GB/32GB storage variant.
