Nehwal has Twitter outburst
Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal on Saturday took to Twitter to ask why the sports ministry had passed her over for a Padma Bhushan award but had recommended wrestler Sushil Kumar instead.  "I was really sad that my name was not sent to the ministry of home affairs by the sports ministry of India," the badminton star said in a series of Twitter messages. "I hope sports ministry looks into this and I will be more than happy if both me and Sushil get the award as we both won medals in 2012 Olympics."

Satellite communications about Pakistani boat under scrutiny
As controversy about the operation mounts, the  Ministry of Defence is preparing for an internal investigation into the satellite-phone communications that led the Coast Guard to intercept a Pakistani fishing boat off Gujarat on New Year's Eve. The review will address the scepticism about whether the destroyed fishing boat was actually carrying explosives, or had ties with terrorist groups, officials told the Indian Express.

Pakistan ups the ante on cross-border firing
In the wake of four Pakistani soldiers being killed in Indian fire last week, Islamabad on Saturday said it would “communicate in the language" that India understands.  The country's defence minister Khawaja Asif said that in recent months, Pakistan had tried to improve ties with India, "but it seems that they do not understand this language”.

Big parts of AirAsia plane found in Java Sea
One week after AirAsia Flight QZ8501 disappeared from air traffic control radar, search teams have found four large pieces of debris believed to be parts of the aircraft, CNN reported.  So far, 30 bodies of passengers have been recovered.

Sacked TCS employees to petition PM Narendra Modi
About 1,500 employees sacked by IT giant Tata Consultancy Services have now decided to start an online campaign to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop the "wrongful terminations".  The company has effected the lay-offs to cut costs, despite 17% growth in the first half of the fiscal year.
