INDIA WIN BY 3 WICKETS!
What a sensational turnaround this has been! Deepak Chahar hits the winning runs and remains unbeaten on a stunning 69 off 82. He added 84 with Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
And with that, India bag the three-match series.
IND 273/7 after 49 overs: Two fours for India! Chameera proves to be expensive again! What a turnaround this has proven to be! India need 3 off the last 6 balls. Chahar and Bhuvi have added 80 runs fo far.

IND 260/7 after 47 overs: Two fours for India! One each for Chahar and Bhuvi – both past the keeper. Chahar then takes treatment for cramps and there’s a delay in play. But a brilliant over for India, they need 16 off 18.
IND 247/7 after 46 overs: Just two singles from that Hasaranga over. The batsmen taking no risks against him. India need 29 off 24. Which bowler will they go after?
IND 245/7 after 45 overs: Good over from Chameera, just four runs from it. India need 31 off 30. Bhuvneshwar is simply focusing on giving Chahar the strike. Can India steal a win here?
FIFTY for Deepak Chahar! What a knock this has been! He’s single-handedly keeping India in the chase. Can he take his team home?
IND 241/7 after 44 overs: This is turning into a superb knock from Deepak Chahar. He has hit two fours and a six in the last two overs to race to 49 off 63. India need 35 off 36 now. Game on!
IND 229/7 after 43 overs: SIX! Super shot from Chahar! Sandakan tosses it right up and the right-hander thumps it over long-off. India need 47 off 42.
IND 216/7 after 41 overs: Welcome boundary for India! Sandakan bowls it outside leg and Chahar sweeps it for four. India need 60 off 54.
IND 209/7 after 40 overs: Six runs for India in that Hasaranga over, Last 10 overs to play, Sri Lanka will want to close it out soon.
IND 203/7 after 39 overs: A couple of twos for Chahar in that over as he tries to look for boundaries now. India need 72 off 66.
IND 196/7 after 37 overs: Quick, quiet over from Dhananjaya. Bhuvneshwar is the new batsman at the crease. India need 80 off 78.
IND 193/7 after 35.1 overs: WICKET! Hasaranga with a peach of a delivery and Krunal’s off-stump is knocked back. The left-hander walks back for 35 off 54. Sri Lanka are inching closer to a series-levelling win.
IND 193/6 after 35 overs: Dhananjaya de Silva comes on to bowl off-spin and does well to concede just two runs in his first over. India need 83 off 90.
IND 191/6 after 34 overs: Top over from Chameera, just one run off it. The right-arm pacer is steaming in at the moment. India need 85 off 96.
IND 190/6 after 33 overs: Batting on 2 off 18 balls, Chahar really needed to get a move on. He punches one through cover for four off Sandakan.
IND 184/6 after 32 overs: Krunal has been peppered with the short stuff today, but he has managed to hang in there. India need 92 off 108 balls.
IND 181/6 after 31 overs: Four! Sandakan drops it short and Krunal pulls it in the gap. Welcome boundary for India, they need 95 off 114. This partnership has added 21 runs.
IND 170/6 after 29 overs: Sandakan bowls a wide and the Indian batsmen run three thanks to the misfield. Valuable runs for the visitors. Six runs come from that over, India need 106 off 126.
IND 164/6 after 28 overs: Deepak Chahar has joined Krunal Pandya at the crease. India need 112 off 132 now. This partnership has to add runs for the visitors to have a chance.
IND 160/6 after 27 overs: WICKET! Fifty and out! Sri Lanka get the wicket they wanted as Sandakan traps Suryakumar in front! That could prove to be the blow that seals it for the hosts. The right-hander walks back for 53 off 44.
FIFTY for Suryakumar Yadav! He gets there in 42 balls and with an elegant drive for four. The right-hander holds the key for India.
IND 149/5 after 26 overs: India aren’t in any rush at the moment, the required rate isn’t a concern for them. Sri Lanka would want to break this partnership soon.
IND 142/5 after 24 overs: Four! Karunarate bangs it in and Krunal attempts a pull, the ball takes the top edge and flies over the keeper. Surya then picks two off the last ball with an up-ish drive past cover.
IND 130/5 after 22 overs: Surya and Krunal are taking it slow now as the Sri Lankans continue to build pressure. There has been some odd bounce too in the last few overs. India need a big partnership here.
IND 123/5 after 19 overs: Krunal survives! He mishits one and the ball lands safely. India are living dangerously!
IND 116/5 after 18 overs: WICKET! India have lost half their side as Hardik Pandya is sent packing for a duck! He pushed the ball with hard hands and it went straight to mid-wicket. Skipper Dasun Shanaka gets the wicket.
IND 115/4 after 17.2 overs: WICKET! Oh dear, Manish Pandey (37 off 31) is run-out in the most unfortunate fashion. Suryakumar Yadav hits it straight back and Shanaka gets a hand on the ball before it crashes into the stumps. India are pegged back again. Hardik Pandya is the new batsman.
IND 114/3 after 17 overs: Another super shot from Surya. Karunaratne joins the attack and bangs one in, the right-hander jumps in the air and plays the perfect ramp shot for four.
IND 107/3 after 16 overs: 4, 2, 3 – Yadav is picking runs from all corners. Plays a fine sweep, then slogs it past mid-wicket, before anticipating the short ball and cutting it past point. Twelve runs come from that Hasaranga over.
IND 95/3 after 15 overs: What a shot! Suryakumar Yadav is timing the ball wonderfully. Rajitha pitches it on a length and the right-hander stands tall to drive it through mid-wicket for four. He hits that shot with a straight bat which makes it stunning to watch.
IND 85/3 after 14 overs: Shot! Hasaranga tosses it up and Suryakumar flicks it over mid-wicket for four. That was the shot of a man full of confidence.
IND 78/3 after 13 overs: Pandey picks up two fours as Sandakan offers two full-tosses. Suryakumar Yadav is the new man at the crease. This is a big test and big opportunity for both these batsmen.
IND 65/3 after 12 overs: WICKET! Huge blow to India as Dhawan is trapped LBW by Hasaranga. The umpire said not out but DRS showed three reds. Sri Lanka are on top!
IND 64/2 after 11 overs: Left-arm wrist spinner Lakshan Sandakan joins the attack and does well to concede just four singles in his first over.
IND 60/2 after 10 overs: After his one over to dismiss Shaw, Hasaranga is back to finish the first powerplay. It’s been an even one, all said and done, you’d say. Those two wickets just keep the hosts interested.
IND 56/2 after 9 overs: A controlled pull shot from Dhawan for a four through leg side off Rajitha. He seems to have settled down after a rollercoaster start.
IND 50/2 after 8 overs: Manish Pandey helps himself to a well-timed boundary on the leg side as Chameera continues. 50 comes up for India.
IND 43/2 after 7 overs: nice and tidy from Rajitha in that over, keeping India to just one run.
IND 42/2 after 6 overs: Shikhar Dhawan has been expertly (*sarcasm font*) avoiding the catchers in this innings so far. Another shot he wasn’t in control of, falls short of the point fielder. Good phase for SL this.
Manish Pandey in at No 4 again.
IND 39/2 after 5 overs: WICKET! Ishan Kishan’s stumps are rattled too! Kasun Rajitha strikes for Sri Lanka as the left-hander chops one on. India have lost both their star performers from the previous game and are in a spot of bother now. Great comeback by Rajitha after leaking three boundaries in his first over.
Slight delay in proceedings as Ishan Kishan is down after being hit on his abdomen guard by a Kasun Rajitha delivery. The physio is out but the left-hander should be fine.
IND 36/1 after 4 overs: Dhawan gets some luck going his way as the inside-edge runs down for four. He then cuts one hard and again Rajitha lets it through at third-man for four. Sri Lanka can ill-afford such mistakes.
IND 28//1 after 3 overs: WICKET! Prithvi Shaw (13 off 11) is clean bowled! Sri Lanka introduce spin in the third over itself with Wanindu Hasaranga and that does the trick.
IND 26/0 after 2 overs: Kasun Rajitha, after being hammered in the first over, lets one through for four at third-man. Poor fielding effort there. Dhawan then picks up another boundary with a terrific straight drive. And just like the first over, Sri Lanka concede a third four as Dhawan pulls it comfortably. Expensive start for Dushmantha Chameera too.
IND 14/0 after 1 over: Shot, shot, and shot! Shaw is up and running! No foot movement first up but a wonderful punch and raised elbow from the right hander to send the ball racing past mid-on. He then leans forward and drives the ball past mid-off for another four. And finally, the last ball is flicked hard through mid-wicket for four. What a start for India!
Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan are out in the middle. India need 276 runs to clinch the series win.
SRI LANKA FINISH WITH 275/9
Chamika Karunaratne plays another crucial hand for his team and remains not-out on 44 off 33. Bhuvi returns with figures of 3/54.
SL 266/9 after 49.3 overs: WICKET! Smart work by Kishan with the gloves as he runs out Sandakan after collecting the delivery from Bhuvi.
SL 264/8 after 49.1 overs: OUT! Third wicket for Bhuvneshwar and a second catch for substitute Padikkal. Chameera walks back as Sri Lanka lose their eighth.
SL 264/7 after 49 overs: Shot! Karunaratne steps out and hits the low full toss straight over for four. He then gets another boundary with a well-placed pull. Chahar finishes with figures of 2/53 from 8 overs.
SL 252/7 after 48 overs: Lucky boundary for Karunaratne as the outside edge runs past short-third. Sri Lanka pick up eight runs from that Bhuvneshwar over.
SL 244/7 after 47.1 overs: WICKET! Asalanka’s stay at the crease has finally come to an end (65 off 68). He went for a maximum but caught got in the deep. Bhuvneshwar gets his second.
SL 244/6 after 47 overs: Fantastic over from Deepak Chahar, just six runs from it. Sri Lanka have 18 balls to play, they’d want to get close to 270 at least.
SL 238/6 after 46 overs: It’s all going Asalanka’s way! Bhuvneshwar does well to induce the outside edge but the left-hander picks up four. Nine runs come from that over.
SL 229/6 after 45 overs: Two cracking shots and two fours for Asalanka in that over. This is just what the hosts needed. Kuldeep Yadav finishes with figures of 0/55 from his 10 overs.
FIFTY for Charith Asalanka! The left-hander has hit some fine shots and held the Sri Lankan innings together through the middle overs.
SL 219/6 after 44 overs: That’s the end of Chahal’s spell, he finishes with impressive figures of 3/50 from his 10 overs. The leg-spinner made a key contribution with his double strike earlier in the innings.
SL 213/6 after 43 overs: Brilliant from Kuldeep, just three runs from that over. The wrist spinner hasn’t got a wicket yet but he’s bowled some great deliveries.
SL 210/6 after 42 overs: Top over from Chahal, just six runs from it. Sri Lanka will need to start looking for boundaries. They’re headed towards a well below-par total at the moment.
SL 204/6 after 41 overs: Four! Krunal tosses it up and Asalanka hits a sweep that lands just inside the boundary. Karunaratne is at the crease now. He played a good hand at the death for his team in the last game and will be eyeing another good knock today.
SL 194/6 after 39.1 overs: WICKET! A superb slower yorker from Chahar and Hasaranga (8 off 11) is clean bowled. India keep chipping away and Sri Lanka are six down now.
SL 192/5 after 38 overs: Shot! Hasaranga goes over cover off Krunal and picks up four. That was a classy shot. This is a key partnership for Sri Lanka. They need to keep pushing now.
SL 172/5 after 35.2 overs: WICKET! Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka (16 off 24) is clean bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal! That was a wonderful flipper by the leg-spinner. He gets his third.
SL 170/4 after 34 overs: Welcome boundary for Sri Lanka. Chahal strays onto the pads and Shanaka sweeps it for four. Good over for the hosts, eight runs from it.
SL 162/4 after 33 overs: Good news for Indian cricket fans as Hardik Pandya, who seemed to be struggling with back pain earlier, returns to the attack and bowls a tight over. He doesn’t look to be in any discomfort as of now.
SL 155/4 after 31 overs: Four! Asalanka continues to be aggressive and hits a slog sweep off Kuldeep in the gap. Sri Lanka need a lot more of this.
SL 144/4 after 30 overs: Asalanka survives! The left-hander mishit the pull but the ball landed safely. Chahar unlucky again. The Sri Lankan innings isn’t going anywhere at the moment, the boundaries have dried up.
SL 134/4 after 27.2 overs: WICKET! Deepak Chahar returns to the attack and strikes! A nothing shot from Dhananjaya de Silva (32 off 45) and Shikhar Dhawan takes a simple catch. Sri Lanka are struggling in the middle overs again.
SL 124/3 after 24.5 overs: WICKET! Avishka (51) falls just after getting to his 50 off 70 balls. It was his 4th fifty in ODIs but soon after he tried to play a big shot and found a fielder in the deep. He had the start and he needed to make it a big one. Big wicket for India just as SL were starting to find some momentum again. Bhuvneshwar the bowler.
SL 118/2 after 24 overs: First four after 97 deliveries for SL in the over. Over extra cover by Avishka, who moves on to 49. A lovely shot.
SL 110/2 after 23 overs: Slow and steady. SL are trying to be more aggressive but things haven’t been easy for them.
SL 107/2 after 22 overs: Another good over from Krunal. He’s blazing through his overs again. No real rush from the Sri Lankan batsmen at the moment.
SL 103/2 after 21 overs: The hundred comes up for Sri Lanka but their scoring rate has come down drastically. They haven’t hit a boundary in the last 13 overs. India’s spinners are doing well here.
SL 94/2 after 18 overs: Krunal comes on to bowl and concedes four runs in his first over. The left-arm spinner was economical in the last game and will aim to keep things tight again.
SL 83/2 after 15 overs: Kuldeep Yadav bowls a leg-stump line to the two right-handers and concedes five singles in that over.
SL 78/2 after 14 overs: Dhananjaya de Silva survives the hat-trick ball but that was a fantastic over from Chahal. India are right back in this.
SL 77/2 after 13.3 overs: WICKET! Yuzvendra Chahal is on a hat-trick! Bhanuka Rajapaksha gets a faint edge and Ishan Kishan takes a sharp catch. That was a wonderful delivery from the leg-spinner.
SL 77/1 after 13.2 overs: WICKET! A breakthrough out of nowhere for India as Yuzvendra Chahal strikes. Minod Bhanuka (36 off 42) will be disappointed as he was looking good at the crease. Manish Pandey holds on to the catch this time.
SL 75/0 after 13 overs: Kuldeep Yadav joins the attack and concedes five runs in his first over. He did fairly well in the last game and would want to build on that.
SL 70/0 after 12 overs: Good over from Chahal, four runs from it. The leg-spinner bowled slower and got good turn in that over.
SL 66/0 after 11 overs: Concern for the Indian team as Hardik seemed to be struggling with his back again. He bowled a long over, having sent down two wides, and was holding his back at the end.
SL 59/0 after 10 overs: Better from Chahal, just two runs from his second over. That’s the end of the powerplay, Sri Lanka will definitely be the happier team right now.
SL 57/0 after 9 overs: Decent over from Hardik, just four runs from it. He’s bowling at around 125 kmph but keeping a tight line.
SL 53/0 after 8 overs: A four each for Fernando and Bhanuka! India just can’t stop the run flow. Yuzvendra Chahal joins the attack and struggles to find the right line and length.
SL 44/0 after 7 overs: Hardik Pandya joins the attack and oversteps first up, Fernando pulls the free-hit for four. Sri Lanka are moving along nicely.
SL 37/0 after 6 overs: Two wonderful shots from Bhanuka for fours. The first one was a back-foot punch through mid-wicket and mid-on, and the next one was a gorgeous straight drive on-the-rise past mid-off. Chahar has been unlucky and expensive so far.
SL 28/0 after 5 overs: Bhuvneshwar bowls his first no-ball in ODIs since October 2018 but the free-hit is a dot. Bhanuka, though, makes up for it by picking two fours after that on the on side. Another good over for the hosts.
SL 19/0 after 4 overs: Now Avishka Fernando survives! The right-hander hit a glorious drive for four and then flicked the next ball in the air. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was a few steps inside at fine-leg and the ball just about sailed over him for six. Deepak Chahar unlucky again.
SL 7/0 after 3 overs: Another good over from Bhuvneshwar. He’s moving the ball both ways and hitting good areas.
Correction: The replays show that the ball did carry to Manish Pandey at second slip. He was slow to react, put just one hand out, and the ball popped right out. Deepak Chahar was not happy.
SL 6/0 after 2 overs: Chahar from the other end for India and he strayed with his line on the fifth ball after bowling four dot balls. Minod flicked it away for four. The sixth ball was edged but didn’t carry to Pandey in the slips.
SL 2/0 after 1 over: Bhuvneshwar to start things off. He is getting some good swing today and he got Avishka to edge one just wide off second slip in the over. Good bowling this.
