IPL 2023, Final, CSK vs GT as it happened: Match postponed due to rain, to be played on Monday
The IPL 2023 final between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad was postponed to Monday due to rain.
11:05 PM: That’s all from our coverage today. The weather seems promising for tomorrow and we can expect it to be a 40-over game. Catch our live blog tomorrow.
10:58 PM: It is confirmed – the final has been moved to the reserve day. The match will take place on Monday.
UPDATE: Umpires say they were quite hopeful of a game tonight around 9 pm. They will try to push as far as possible. If by around 11 pm rain doesn’t stop, we will have to come back tomorrow, Nitin Menon adds.
Reminder: The cut-off time for the final to happen today is 12.06 am for a five-over-a-side game. Otherwise reserve day kicks in (as per Harsha Bhogle on air earlier).
9.20 pm: The players were all on the field, the broadcasters were standing and speaking... and then boom, thunder followed by rain. The covers are back on.
8:40 PM: The rain had stopped briefly but it has resumed and gotten heavier. Sigh.
8:00 PM: Earlier today, HS Prannoy became the first Indian men’s singles shuttler to clinch the Malaysia Masters title on Sunday as he defeated China’s Weng Hong Yang in the final.
7:45 pm: While we wait for the rain to stop, let’s take a moment to think about what is happening in Delhi today. We wait for a winner in Ahmedabad but several other winners, who have brought India accolades in Olympics and World Championships, seem to be wrestling for their rights. No matter your opinion on the protest or the wrestlers, but the images from today ought to make one think.

7:30 pm: There seems to be some confusion over whether there is a reserve day, after all.
7:07 pm: This is also Ambati Rayudu’s last IPL match. A career comprising 4329 runs in 203 matches, it is going to be curtains for the middle-order batter.
6:57 pm: Some bad news from Ahmedabad. It’s pouring at the moment and the toss is delayed.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Indian Premier League 2023 final as MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings take on Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans.
Around the business end of the tournament, Robin Uthappa had pointed out what makes CSK and GT tick and it was largely the team environment and the support they provided to its players in all situations. It is no surprise, then, that these two teams are the last two standing after this two-month-long tournament.
Will Chennai Super Kings get their hands on the trophy for the record-equalling fifth time or will defending champions Gujarat Titans do it twice in a row?
