That’s it for Scroll’s coverage of Day 9 of the Paris Paralympic Games.

Friday marked yet another successful day for India with two medals. Earlier today, high jumper Praveen Kumar secured India’s sixth gold medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics in the men's T64 event. He set a new Asian record marking his best attempt of the competition and clinching the gold.

Hokato Hotozhe Sema won bronze in the men's shot put F57 final to take India's overall medal tally to 27. After falling short in the 100m event, Simran has another shot at the medal on Saturday as she is through to the final of the women’s 200m T12 event.

As we approach the end of the Paralympic Games, India will hope to add a few more medals on Sunday.

Athletics, men's shot put final F57: Hokato Hotozhe Sema wins bronze! His best throw of 14.65 meters that he achieved in his fourth attempt was enough to climb up to the third spot and even though there were plenty of athletes left to go, Sema was able to retain his spot. The Asian Para Games bronze medalist is now a Paralympics bronze medallist.

Athletics, men's shot put final F57: It’s the final athlete Mohammed Fateh Naseb Alroad who will be going through his attempts and Sema continues to hold the third spot. Soman Rana is fifth.

Athletics, men's shot put final F57: Hokato Hotozhe Sema delivers his best throw in his fourth attempt and it is a personal best of 14.64m and it takes him to the third spot. Certainly in the medal contention for a bronze.

Athletics, women's javelin throw F46 final: Bhavanaben Ajabaji Chaudhary fouls on her fifth attempt but the sixth attempt is an underpar 35.39m. Breaking her personal best thrice by a great margin is no mean feat but it is not enough and she will finish fifth. Her best throw in the Paralympics will be 39.70m.

Athletics, women's javelin throw F46 final: Yet another personal best for Bhavanaben Ajabaji Chaudhary! She throws 39.70 in her fourth attempt. She is currently placed fifth.

Athletics, men's shot put final F57: Amongst his six attempts, Soman Rana’s best throw came at 14.07 in his second attempt but it places him in the fourth spot. Essentially, taking him out of medal contention.

Athletics, women's 200m T12 semi-final: Simran wins her semi-final to qualify for the finals with a timing of 25.03 seconds. She capitalised on her brilliant start to extend the lead. Although Katrin Mueller-Rottgardt was closing in, Simran was able to hold on.

Athletics, women's 200m T12 semi-final: In action now will be World Champion Simran in her semi-final with guide Abhay Singh. She had clocked a time of 25.41s in the heats to qualify for the semi-final.

Athletics, men's shot put final F57: Soman Rana is getting ready for his attempts. Athletes go for all six attempts in one go in this event.

Athletics, women's javelin throw F46 final: Another personal best for Chaudhary! She throws 39.64 in her third attempt and climbs up to fourth spot. She entered the event with a mark of 35.66 meters and has bettered it and how!

Athletics, women's javelin throw F46 final: Chaudhary throws a 36.40 in her second attempt. The first attempt still remains her best but she is placed eighth.

Athletics, women's javelin throw F46 final: Chaudhary already has a personal best in her first throw at 37.31m. Still many athletes with way better throws though.

Athletics, men's shot put final F57: Simultaneously, Soman Rana and Hokato Hotozhe Sema are competing in the seated shot put event. Soman's personal best is 15.02m, but he was placed behind Hokato at the World Championships earlier this year. Hokato holds a personal best of 14.49m.

Athletics, women's javelin throw F46 final: In action now is Bhavanaben Ajabaji Chaudhary. Her personal best stands at 35.66 meters, with a season best of 34.23 meters.

Para powerlifting, women’s up to 67kg: Kasthuri Rajamani registers an unsuccessful third lift at 110kg and she is out of contention at the eighth spot.

Archer Harvinder Singh and sprinter Preethi Pal will be the flagbearers for India at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

Athletics, men's javelin throw F54 final: Dipesh Kumar is up next for India in athletics. In this event, an athlete makes each of his six attempts in one go before the next athlete comes up. Kumar will start last, which means he will already have a firm target in mind for the podium.

Canoe, women's Va'a single 200m - VL2 heats: Prachi Yadav finishes fourth in her heat and is through to the semi-final, which takes place at 1:58pm tomorrow.

Canoe, men's kayak single 200m - KL1 heats: Yash Kumar finishes sixth in his heat and is through to the semi-final of the event, which takes place tomorrow at 1:30 pm.

China has taken a commanding lead on the overall table. India is in 16th position with 25 medals – five gold, nine silver and 11 bronze.

Hello and welcome to Scroll’s coverage of Day 9 of the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

India has now won 25 medals at this edition of the Paralympics, but that number could go up on Friday, with as many as six medals in the offing.

The canoeists are in action today, as is Simran who finished fourth in the women’s 100m T12 – today she competes in Round 1 of the women’s 200m T12 event.

There is action in powerlifting and a host of events in athletics to come today.
